Kim Delaney was an American actress. She is most famous because of her part as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC series NYPD Blue. For this she received the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her roles on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney is the sole daughter of an United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised by four siblings. When she was a kid she was aspired to become a court reporter. However, after graduating from high school and moving in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first role as an actor came when she was a young, innocent girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films and dramatics since then. Her personal life unlike her professional has not been successful and happy. The accomplished actress battled the effects of alcohol and two marriages fail. In 2005 she lost the custody of her only son.
